What it does
Beetle is a delivery marketplace covering Tanzania’s farm-input supply chain. It connects three groups who otherwise deal with each other by phone and cash: farmers who need seeds and fertiliser, agro-shops that stock them, and drivers who move goods between the two. It ships as three separate apps — one for farmers, one for drivers, one for shop owners — plus a web portal for sellers who would rather not install anything.
How it works
A farmer browses agro-shops near them and places an order. The shop confirms stock and hands the parcel to a driver who has accepted the job, and both sides follow the vehicle on a live map for the length of the trip. Handover is confirmed with codes rather than signatures: the driver quotes a pickup code at the shop and a delivery code at the farm, so neither end of the trip can be disputed afterwards. Delivery is priced per kilometre and varies by vehicle type, so a motorcycle run and a truck run do not cost the same.
Using it
Farmers install the Beetle app to browse nearby stores, order inputs and track the delivery in. Drivers use Beetle Driver to pick up available jobs, navigate, and follow their earnings. Shop owners either run Beetle Shop on a phone or open the seller portal on a desktop, managing catalogue, orders and analytics without installing anything.
